MYLAI GAROFALO
Dr. Mylai Garofalo, MD, FAAP, is a board-certified pediatrician, Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and founder of Pediatric Dream Care in Palm Springs, Florida. She provides compassionate, evidence-based care focused on prevention, continuity, and lasting relationships with children and their families. She believes parents deserve to be heard, understand their child’s care, and have time to ask questions.
Dr. Garofalo also serves as a Clinical Assistant Professor at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine and Ross University School of Medicine, where she teaches and mentors medical students in outpatient pediatrics. She joined Burrell’s faculty in January 2026 and received her Ross appointment in June 2026. She previously served as a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Nova Southeastern University.
From 2013 through May 2025, she worked at Florida Community Health Center as a Pediatrician, Clinical Administrator, and Director of Pediatric Services. She opened Pediatric Dream Care in August 2023 and, since June 2025, has devoted her clinical work full-time to the practice and the families it serves.
Born and raised in Cuba, Dr. Garofalo earned her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Higher Institute of Medical Sciences of Havana City in 1996. She began her career in Family Medicine before relocating to the United States in 2000. She completed her pediatric residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine at Elmhurst Hospital Center in New York, then moved to Florida in 2011.
Her dedication to medicine and academic achievement has earned her the Golden Baby Shoe Award and the Golden Title for Academic Achievement.
Dr. Garofalo is married to Ramon Luis Sanchez Romeo, a former family medicine physician in Cuba and a Registered Nurse in the United States, who serves as Pediatric Dream Care’s practice manager. Outside of medicine, she enjoys spending time with her family, lovingly cares for her elderly parents, and cherishes visits with her son, daughter-in-law, and two young grandchildren.
She cares for every child with the attention and compassion she would want for her own family. She loves her work so deeply that she sometimes forgets she is working—a blessing she prays to God never to lose.
She is guided by the words of Mother Teresa:
“It’s not about how much you do, but how much love you put into what you do that counts.”
